Félix Tshisekedi Congratulates Donald Trump and Urges Stronger, Positive DRC-USA Partnership
On Wednesday, Félix Tshisekedi sent his “warmest congratulations” to Donald Trump in response to his still unofficial, but already celebrated by some, victory in the 2024 US presidential election to strengthen the DRC-US partnership.
In the name of the Congolese people and on his own behalf, the Congolese leader declared himself “ready to work” with the man he considers the next president of the United States, stressing the importance of “strengthening the strategic partnership” between Washington and Kinshasa in a context of bilateral relations marked by diplomatic and economic cooperation.
For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron also sent a congratulatory message to Donald Trump, mentioning his readiness to continue their cooperation. “Ready to work together, as we have done for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition,” the French president said, stressing the importance of “peace and prosperity.
However, the vote count for this election is still underway in several key US states. So far, Donald Trump has claimed victory in strategic states such as Florida, Alabama, North Carolina and Ohio, but the final results have yet to be officially announced.
